Constipation has become a common occurrence these days with one in five Indians found suffering from it. It becomes difficult to pass the bowels or occurs less frequently than usual, resulting in severe discomfort that impairs quality of life. However, food can significantly contribute to regularity and a healthy digestive system. What counts is having the right foods that are rich in fiber.

1. Fast food
It is a proven fact that fast food tends to slow down digestion. Fast food, which is high in fat and poor in fiber, has been shown to impede the passage of food through the colon, resulting in constipation.
2. Red Meat
Limit your consumption of red meat such as pork, goat, lamb, and so on because they include a large quantity of fat, iron, and protein that takes longer for the body to digest. This further raises the chances of getting constipation-related symptoms.
3. Frozen food
Frozen food is extremely high in salt and therefore extremely unhealthy. It contains harmful chemicals, preservatives, and fillers that give little nutritional value and weaken the digestive system.
4. Alcohol
Excessive alcohol drinking might result in dehydration. It absorbs water from wastes in the digestive tract, causing constipation and preventing healthy bowel movements.
5. Dairy products
Avoid consumption of milk, cheese, etc in excess. Lactose, which is found in dairy products, causes gas and bloating. Furthermore, they are high in fat and low in fiber, which is a primary cause of constipation. The idea is to consume in moderation.
6. Caffeine

7. Unripe bananas
